Description

Fr-2175-J 1996 Series One Hundred Dollar Federal Reserve note from the Kansas City District. Serial AJ06489503A.  During the first print “BACK” the guides on the sheet were not in place causing the sheet to be too far away from being printed correctly. The second print “FACE DESIGN” & Third print “OVER-PRINT” seals and serial numbers were printed correctly. Having the back mis-aligned, getting thru the next two stages is pretty impressive for a $100.00. These First Generation $100’s at the time were printed in their own room and printing press away from all the other denominations. Though in the end after the 2006A series, it’s not uncommon to see an error on a first generation $100.00. They printed them for nearly 20 years.

Third party graded P.M.G #64EPQ Choice uncirculated with exceptional paper quality. Taken from the pack and stored before going into a graded holder. 1996 Series First Generation $100=Major Alignment issue, we have yet to see another like it on a Second-generation series $100.00 to date. But maybe someday we will see one.?

We have found one other from the same sheet printed which was auctioned off at Heritage graded P.C.G.S #50, Stained. It realized $1610.00 August-2010
