1928 $5.00 FRN “GUTTER-FOLD”

FR-1950-K 1928 Series Five Dollar Federal Reserve note coming from the Dallas District. K06487655A. An impressive gutter fold error that strikes from the top to the bottom of the note.  Pushing a major flap of blank across the note. Enlarging the size. Third party graded P.M.G #35. No comments on the holder. Very fine to extra fine grade. Impressive size gutter fold on this Dallas District.

 

Rare to come across yes. You would figure on seeing these more often. Not the case. Usa Rare has sold 4 of these in the last 27 years on 28 series FRNS. They do not come up for sale often. Recently we have acquired a small collection of them. Just think of some of the first Federal Reserve notes being offered with paper flaws on the sheets.
