Sayre is a borough in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, located near the New York border and serving as the principal community of the Sayre Micropolitan Statistical Area. Today it is the largest municipality in Bradford County.

The community was named in honor of Robert H. Sayre, a prominent railroad executive, and was incorporated as a borough in 1891.

The enormous locomotive repair shops dominated the local economy and helped transform the town into one of northeastern Pennsylvania’s important transportation hubs.
