FR-2168-J 1977 Series One Hundred Dollar Federal Reserve note bearing the lowest possible serial number, ONE. J00000001A. From the first block printed J-A. This ended with just over 20 million notes printed for this District. This note was pulled from change decades ago and put into a book where it was left there for quite some time. It’s third-party graded P.C.G.S #30 Very Fine to Extra Fine with no comments on the holder. Centered well, with good eye appeal left in it from being pulled from circulation. This note was discovered earlier this year. It’s now the 5TH SMALL HEAD design, one hundred serial #1 to come forward.
Serial #1 notes on small head designed Hundred’s do not appear often. The last serial #1 offering or say the last few… were all 1996 Series to 2013 Series. The majority all uncirculated sold between $15,000-$21,000. We sold a 2009A Series $100.00 FRN IN XF-AU for $8500.00 here on the website in 2021.
The last small head design serial one $100 offering was in 2003, just under 25 years ago…..which was the 1950 Series $100.00 C1A Uncirculated, realizing $19,000.00 at Knight. The 1969 Series $100 FRN C1A Per-Dean Oakes @ $3800. 1988. The 1963A Series $100.00 FRN was $10,000 Per-Fred Bart. Late 90’s.
